The short answer

What does a managed IT provider do for a warehouse?

Liverpool, NSW South Yarra, VIC

A managed IT provider for a warehouse runs the technology the floor depends on, including handheld scanners, devices, the warehouse management system, accounts, backups and cybersecurity, for a predictable monthly fee. Sharktech adds Flagman AI safety monitoring and Business Intelligence dashboards, so IT, safety and performance data sit with one Australian team.

Warehousing runs on thin margins and tight cut-off times. When a scanner fleet is left unmanaged, pick rates fall. When a forklift and a picker meet at a blind corner, the cost is measured in people, not minutes. Most warehouses solve these problems with three or four separate vendors. We bring them under one agreement. Sharktech Global is an Australian AI tech lab, the Sharktech AI Tech Lab, with offices in Liverpool, New South Wales and South Yarra, Victoria. We design, build and run our own AI platforms, so the systems we deploy for you are ones we understand from the inside. We support warehousing businesses across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle, Wollongong and Geelong.

Why it matters

Why is safety technology now a priority in warehousing?

Transport, postal and warehousing and manufacturing are among the six industries that account for most work-related deaths in Australia.

188

Australian workers killed at work in 2024.

42%

Of worker fatalities involved vehicle incidents, the leading cause.

80%

Of fatalities occurred in six industries, including transport, postal and warehousing, and manufacturing.

146,700

Serious workers compensation claims in 2023 to 2024, each with at least one week off work.

One partner, four capabilities

What does Sharktech manage for warehouses and distribution centres?

Use one capability, or bring them together under one agreement. Everything connects, because we build software as well as support it.

Problem and solution

How is Sharktech technology making a difference in warehousing?

Real problems. Working technology. Numbers you can check.

The six problems we hear most from warehouses and distribution centres, what we do about each one, and the number you track to know it worked.

The problem

Forklift and pedestrian near misses that nobody records

Blind spots at racking ends and dock doors mean near misses happen every shift. Without evidence, the traffic management plan never improves.

How Sharktech solves it
Flagman safety automation

AI cameras give 360 degree human detection around forklifts and at intersections. Audio and visual alerts fire when a person enters the danger zone, forklift deceleration can be triggered through the vehicle controls, and every event is logged with video.

What you measure

Near misses captured per shift, alert response time, repeat hotspots by zone

The problem

Scanner and device fleets that nobody manages

Handheld scanners, label printers and tablets break, go missing or run out-of-date software. Every fault is a picker standing still.

How Sharktech solves it
Managed IT

We manage the scanner, label printer and tablet fleet with standard builds, software updates, spares planning and remote monitoring, so faults are fixed before the shift supervisor calls.

What you measure

Devices out of action per shift, time to resolve tickets

The problem

A warehouse management system that does not talk to anything else

Pick rates live in the WMS, orders in the ERP, freight in carrier portals, and the weekly report is still a spreadsheet someone builds by hand.

How Sharktech solves it
Data and AI

We connect the WMS, ERP and carrier data into one Business Intelligence view of pick rates, order accuracy, dock-to-stock time and labour per shift, refreshed automatically.

What you measure

Hours of manual reporting removed, one agreed set of warehouse KPIs

The problem

PPE and restricted zone breaches at docks and racking

Supervisors cannot watch every dock door, mezzanine and pallet racking aisle at once, and breaches are only found after an incident.

How Sharktech solves it
Flagman safety automation

Flagman detects missing hard hats and high-visibility vests, and people entering restricted zones, then alerts supervisors instantly and reports violations by zone, camera or department.

What you measure

PPE compliance rate by zone, restricted zone entries per week

The problem

Ransomware or invoice fraud that stops dispatch

A locked WMS or a redirected supplier payment can halt a warehouse for days. Many sites have never had their security checked.

How Sharktech solves it
Cybersecurity

We assess you against the Essential Eight, lock down email authentication to stop spoofed invoices, test that backups actually restore, and run phishing simulations for office and floor staff.

What you measure

Essential Eight maturity per strategy, tested recovery time, phishing click rate

The problem

Fire risk in high-density storage

Packaging, plastics, batteries and chargers concentrate fire load. Early warning is the difference between a scare and a total loss.

How Sharktech solves it
Flagman safety automation

Flagman fire and smoke detection monitors virtual zones through AI vision and sounds loud local alerts in real time. It adds an early visual layer on top of your certified fire systems, it does not replace them.

What you measure

Detection to alert time, auditable fire event log

Advanced safety automation

What is Sharktech Flagman, and how does it automate safety?

Your cameras already see the risk. Flagman acts on it in real time.

Flagman is an AI vision safety system that turns your cameras into a safety team that never looks away. It detects people, vehicles, PPE and hazards in real time, sounds local alerts, triggers machine and vehicle controls, and records every event for your work health and safety reporting. Sharktech is the exclusive Australian and New Zealand delivery partner for Perleybrook Labs, the developer of Flagman, and installs, integrates and supports every Flagman deployment locally.

FAQ FAQ

Managed IT for warehousing: frequently asked questions

How much do managed IT services cost for a warehouse?

Managed IT for a warehouse is usually priced per site and per user on a monthly agreement. Sharktech managed IT starts from A$3,500 per month, scoped after a site assessment that counts devices, users and systems. Flagman, cybersecurity and Business Intelligence work are quoted separately so you only pay for what the site needs.

Does Flagman work with our existing CCTV cameras?

In most cases, yes: Flagman works with standard ONVIF IP cameras, USB cameras and GMSL cameras. Flagman Basic supports up to 4 cameras per device and Flagman Pro up to 12, and devices can be stacked for large sites. We check your cameras during the site assessment.

Does Flagman need an internet connection, and where does the footage go?

No internet connection is required. Flagman processes video on a rugged edge device on your site, so alerts keep working if the internet drops and footage does not need to leave the building. The dashboard gives your team access to events, reports and video clips.

Will Flagman replace our traffic management plan?

No, Flagman supports your work health and safety obligations by detecting hazards, alerting people and recording evidence. It strengthens your traffic management plan, your PPE rules and your inductions. It does not replace them, and it does not replace certified fire systems.

Can you connect our WMS to Business Intelligence?

Yes, Sharktech connects warehouse management, ERP, carrier and spreadsheet data into Business Intelligence dashboards that refresh automatically. We start with a data audit so the numbers match the ones your operations team already trusts.

How do we get started?

Book a 30-minute discovery call. We then run a site assessment covering your devices, systems, security and the safety risks on the floor, and give you a written, costed plan before you commit to anything.
